Celebrating 50 years since O’Sensei’s historic visit to Hawaii,
our dojo hosted the founder’s last uchideshi
Morito Suganuma Shihan
Sept. 3-5, 2011 at Aikido of Hilo
This was a truly memorable training for all!

Hana-no-Aikido

1. Aikido is to cultivate your mind assiduously,
a strong commitment to devote yourself to others brings harmony.

2. We have many blatant injustices in this world.
With the soul of Aikido, let us wipe out evils of the era.

3. Flowing warter is only pure.
Rolling stones have no grasses.
Just practice hard and you will understand what the Aikido is.

4. Once you get to know the Aikido spirit,
you have nothing to worry any more.
Your performance integrated, techniques with spirit,
is crowned with glory.

During the seminar, Suganuma Shihan arranged for
Hiroko Horiuchi of Harima Shoheijuku (Hyogo, Japan)
to perform this aiki dance to music with Japanese lyrics.
The above translation describes the meaning of this special dance.
